MinkelR's Teg

Postby MinkelR » September 16th, 2012, 1:38 am

Picked this up late 2009 (I think) after the engine went on my '87. I'm just about happy with how it sits now :D

When I first got it it had been in a fender bender. The whole front end has since been replaced.

Sent my spare injectors in to WitchHunter Performance to be serviced. Should be back in a week or so squeaky clean! After those are installed I need to get the Mugen program on my spare ECU.
Rebuild has broken in nicely. Have about 8,000 miles on it so far and it doesn't burn a drop of oil :D

Got a call from WitchHunter. All 4 of my spare injectors sprung leaks from the internal seals during flow testing. Off to the wrecking yard!

I was just up at the Northwest auto recyclers yard in Machias, just past Lake Stevens, They have 2 early and 2 late g1tegs in stock. One of their computers show them in case the other one doesn't. Rows 3,6 10 and 18 IRCC. None of the seats looked good, mostly worn, filthy or moldy. For the injectors tho, I'd look for the 97 accord, oddessy, CL like the other thread. There's one of each around along with the 96 preludes listed at P&P. Anyway, I'll be home at 3ish today if you want to look at the seat bottoms I have removed. I also have spare injectors if you're interested. Same price, all year, Tecate' six pack. Hah!

I'll swing by today to check out those seat covers. I'll bring by your payment, lol. I'll probably hit up the Arlington P&P. The guy at WitchHunter gave me some good advice on leak testing used ones. He told me to submerge the injector slightly past the seam where the black cap is on the injector and hit it with a little bit of compressed air. If bubbles come out of the seam the internal seal is dried up and cannot be repaired. Then to store them with WD40 in them to keep the seals from drying and the internals from rusting.

Grabbed some injectors from a 96 Accord and sent them in to be cleaned. They look brand new and have been cleaned and flow tested. Let's hope my fuel mileage increases now. Already idles and accelerates smoother.
